Job Summary : The Marketing Associate assists in administering marketing and promotion efforts for a department, division, or college.
Additional Department Summary : This position is part of the UAP Sales and Marketing team and reports to the Publication Sales Manager. The position creates and maintains the quality and completeness of UA Press's metadata for frontlist (new and upcoming) and backlist (existing) books upon the display of books in retail locations (Amazon, etc.) and other sales functions depends. The position serves as the press's subject-matter expert on the form, use, and timing of metadata distribution to maximize book sales to scholars, libraries, and the reading public. The position also ensures the accurate and on-time distribution book covers and interior images by way of book-industry ONIX and other channels, existing or to come.
The position collaborates with the Marketing team to design and create website features and promotions to maximize book sales. The position supports the Publication Sales Manager in the creation of persuasive metadata and presentations to book sales representatives. The position monitors and tracks metrics that provide meaningful feedback for use in future promotions. Determines and maintains subject category classification.
Required Minimum Qualifications : High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience.
Skills and Knowledge : Ability to write and edit swift and persuasive professional correspondence and marketing copy. Basic numeracy and a comfort level with quantitative data and complex databases. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Adobe Creative Suite. Basic knowledge of editing with html tags. Excellent writing, proofreading, and organizational skills. Extremely detail-oriented with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and initiate projects. Ability to work on detailed tasks for an extended time. Ability to problem-solve under pressure. A demonstrated ability to master new technology and processes. Proficiency in metadata and ONIX standards preferred. Familiarity with retail, academic, or scholarly publishing preferred. Understanding of web marketing and ecommerce. A comfort level meeting and interacting with new people and the general public.
Preferred Qualifications : Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired.
