Minimum Qualifications:
The equivalent education of a high school diploma
Class B HVAC License
EPA Section 608 Certification for handling refrigerants (Type I, II, or Universal)
Valid driver's license required
Level I: Handles complex systems
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 or more years of experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair.
Level II: Supervises projects, maintains large-scale systems
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 7 years or more years of experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair
Experience directing projects
Experience in a leadership role
Level III: Manages HVAC teams and large projects
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 or more years experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair
Supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications for all levels:
Technical certification or associate degree in HVAC technology, mechanical systems, or a related field preferred.
Additional HVAC certifications (e.g., NATE, Class A HVAC License)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Install, inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, air handlers and fume hoods
Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions, leaks, and inefficiencies
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment
Replace filters, belts, motors, and other system components as needed
Calibrate thermostats, sensors, and control systems to ensure optimal performance
Ensure compliance with EPA regulations regarding refrigerant handling and disposal
Maintain records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities
Follow university safety protocols and OSHA guidelines when handling equipment and hazardous materials
Respond promptly to HVAC-related service requests and emergency calls
Work closely with other maintenance personnel, electricians, and plumbers to ensure seamless facility operations
Provide technical guidance and support to junior staff or apprentices
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
Knowledge of CMMS/Work Order system usage, mobile technology
Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Programs including email and spreadsheets

Level II: $56,123 - $63,138.50
Level III: $61,735 - $69,452
All levels commensurate with education and experience
