This role encompasses various responsibilities, including but not limited to performing semi-skilled and skilled cleaning tasks, cleaning outpatient clinics, hospital-based clinics, laboratories, outpatient surgical and procedural areas, and undertaking housekeeping and/or general maintenance duties in all non-hospital areas for UCDH. Additionally, responsibilities include handling regular and regulated medical waste, as well as linen waste, and performing any other assigned duties. Ensuring compliance with departmental safety policies, including the proper use of equipment procedures, is essential. This position is physically demanding, involving significant lifting, stretching, walking, and bending.

Department Description
The Environmental Services Department is responsible for all aspects of Housekeeping functions/services in all UCDMC owned and leased facilities. The department is also responsible for the recycling and shredding programs.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs, push/pull 200 lbs., and be able to stand, walk, squat, and kneel for an extended period.
- This position may include tasks in patient care areas where there are patients under isolation precautions.
- This position may require staff to clean and handle blood/bodily fluids, hazardous materials, and chemical waste.
Special Requirements
- Incumbent must be willing and able to work variable shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays, and float to other units/areas/buildings/runs.
- Position is subject to a Functional Capacity Assessment for new hires, a Criminal Background Investigation, and a Physical Evaluation.
- This position is a critical position and subject to a background check and drug screen. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history, identity checks and drug screen.
- As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California Policy on Vaccination Programs, as may be amended or revised from time to time. Federal, state, or local public health directives may impose additional requirements.
