The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at UC Irvine Health School of Medicine is dedicated to the diagnosis and understanding of human diseases through biomedical and clinical research. The department's research programs are in laboratories at UC Irvine Medical Center and on the Irvine campus. They are supported by funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other extramural sources.
The Executive Assistant provides executive level administrative and decision-making support to the Chief Administrative Officer in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. This includes overseeing the daily and long range activities for the Chair. The incumbent must use independent judgement and have high level organizational skills as this position, under general supervision, handles sensitive and confidential executive level correspondence, agreements and special projects. The incumbent will be responsible for the coordination of a variety of administrative and departmental events which includes coordination of department staff engagement, morale, and special events. The applicant must possess an experienced level of administrative and communication skills and must have a keen awareness of organization politics, tact and diplomacy.

- Ability to research, properly evaluates information, and prepare concise, well organized reports, summaries and correspondence. Required
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills and the ability to compose letters, memoranda, and other documents. Required
- High degree of proficiency in software applications, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Required
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Required
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Required
- Prior event planning experience in organization large scale events. Preferred
- Working knowledge of University policies, procedures, and organizational structure including Financial, Human Resources, and Payroll functions Preferred
