Incumbent provides effective consultation and support for organizational decision making through high-level analysis, data mining of financial and operational data, and effective reporting. Assists all levels of management in budgetary development and monitoring.
Your Role on the Team
Essential Job Functions:

- Provides proficient interpretation and application of financial policies and guidelines. Provides sound advice using good judgment to interpret policy matters of consequence. Effectively monitors activities or transactions in assigned areas across the Medical Center to ensure adherence to policy. Appropriately reviews and recommends exceptions to policy. Ensures that audits are conducted effectively according to established procedures and guidelines. 20%
- Prepares a monthly schedule procedure for the load and audit of the Decision Support systems. Develops, implements and maintains safety and security procedures for DSS and DS database. 10%
- Performs all functions necessary to implement, maintain, and improve data integrity for the cost accounting and budget system. Analyzes and validates financial data, conducts internal and external trend analysis, reviews exception reports, and works with staff to identify corrective measures as needed. Prepares financial reports and ensures timely availability of the decision support data for end-users. 20%
- Creates, modifies, and performs data extracts, including clinical indicators, phase of care, large case analysis, etc., for end-users as needed. Prepares relevant financial analysis reports. Accurately reconciles DSS financial numbers to system source and Controller's data. 20%
- Coordinates the preparation of the annual operating budget, files cost reports, and coordinates annual audits. 10%
- Accurately performs net revenue analysis, contract modeling, cost benefits studies, etc. based upon credible information and data. Effectively analyzes new proposals or initiatives. Develops effective projections and forecasts for use by management. Writes effective analytical reports and descriptive summaries. Develops and presents effective recommendations to supervision/management. 20%

Required Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of decision support systems, cost accounting principles, and accounting systems
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
- Must possess general knowledge of various reimbursement methodologies (per diem, per case, capitation, indemnity, etc)
- Must demonstrate high level analytical skills with focus on business analysis and secondary focus on systems analysis
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Minimum 2 years experience using Excel to maintain spreadsheets and perform data manipulation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with staff and senior management
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Healthcare Management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to work with multiple and changing priorities
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years experience working with a cost accounting system
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
