The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at UC Irvine Health School of Medicine is dedicated to understanding human diseases through biomedical and clinical research. Using the latest technologies, our clinicians and scientists help advance medicine by finding better ways of diagnosing, managing and
treating diseases.
Two part-time positions for recent graduates to assist on research projects at a UCI lab (La Spada lab, located in ISEB). This is not a work-study position. It is a limited position with 1000 working hours maximum limitation in a rolling year. The candidate must be able to work with flexibility depending on the animal conditions and occasional weekend work. The overall goal of the projects is to investigate a novel mouse model of a specific cellular mechanism in vascularization and lung development and to examine a specific cellular mechanism in two novel mouse models and evaluate its potential in developing therapies for neurodegenerative diseases. Duties include rodent handling and breeding, dissections of prenatal/early postnatal murine and mouse retina, tissue cryosectioning, primary culture, molecular biology (protein and/or RNA analysis), immunohistochemistry, microscopy, and data analysis/presentation.
