What are the responsibilities and job description for the Postdoctoral Scholar in Theoretical Chemistry position at University of California - Merced?
Open date: February 21, 2025
Next review date: Sunday, Mar 30, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time)
Apply by this date to ensure full consideration by the committee.
Final date: Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time)
Applications will continue to be accepted until this date, but those received after the review date will only be considered if the position has not yet been filled.
Applications are invited for a full-time postdoctoral research position in Professor Henrik R. Larsson's theoretical chemistry group at University of California, Merced.
The position will involve developing new methods related to tensor network states (e.g. DMRG, MCTDH, TTNS) and applying them to problems in theoretical quantum chemistry and theoretical chemical physics. Of particular interest are candidates who are interested in research in one or more of the following: Quantum vibrational dynamics and structure, multireference electronic structure, attosecond electron dynamics, and machine learning and pattern recognition of quantum wavefunctions.
Some of the possible projects involve international collaborations. Available computational resources include two shared clusters at Merced, computing nodes dedicated to the group, and the San Diego Super Computing Center. The postdoctoral scholar will be expected to present and engage at international conferences, writing journal articles, and assist with mentoring students.
