Job Summary
The employee is expected to work efficiently and should be able to determine the most effective use of time, such as overlapping procedures, organizing an individual work schedule, and setting priorities in order to meet required turn around times (TAT) for case completion. He/she should also determine, according to established guidelines, proper methods necessary for specimen processing and analysis.
Regular communication regarding sample analysis and problems to the section supervisor or co-workers and proper handing-off is expected to achieve accurate test results.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Science
- Previous experience in a fast-paced clinical laboratory setting (minimum 1yr)
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel - 0-1yrs)
- 1 yr. recent experience as a CLS or Cytogeneticist in a clinical laboratory or Graduation from a CA-approved Clinical Laboratory or Cytogenetics training program.
- Familiarity with laboratory quality assessment and quality control
- Must be willing to handle biohazards specimens
Preferred Qualifications
- Microarray experience, FISH or COG experience
License/Certification
- California licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or limited CA licensure as Clinical Cytogeneticist Scientist (CCS)
