Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Neurology Nurse Manager, the Practice Manager will work independently and have primary responsibility for the supervision of administrative/clinical staff. The Practice Manager will be responsible for supervising the operational, human resource, administrative and business functions of the Neurology practice. The Practice Manager must have the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks and work well with staff, patients and providers. A high degree of independence, initiative, assertiveness, and diplomacy are necessary in dealing with faculty, staff and patients in a complex environment. The Practice Manager is considered the subject matter expert and oversees administrative staff and operations for the Adult Neurology practice as well as some inpatient activities. Takes an active role in team building opportunities to improve patient, provider and staff experience. Responsible for smooth clinic operations for all providers.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $87,900 - $131,800 (Annual Rate).

Department Description
UCSF Headache Center provides comprehensive care to relieve the most debilitating chronic headaches. Outpatient services include but not limited to: New & established Telemedicine and in-person visits, Botox and anesthetic injection clinics. Inpatient services are an elective admission program coordinated with Dignity/Saint Mary's Medical Center partnership, where patients stay 4-5 days and receive infusions to break the headache cycle. The department is staff with four full time physicians along with nurses, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and practice coordinators; 10 FTEs total.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years overall experience in related field
- Demonstrated skills to effectively supervise staff and to manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with a clinic(s) / center(s). Strong knowledge of practice operations.
- Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources issues and performance, and to participate in decision-making on human resources matters.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaborations and problem solving with all levels of management and staff, consultants and outside agencies.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Strong knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in clinic / center patient care.
- Previous EPIC experience
- Demonstrated management or leadership skills.
- Experience with ambulatory practices
- Previous experience in medical office registration, scheduling and, or, billing.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years of supervisory/management/leadership responsibilities/experience
- Previous Neurology Clinic experience
- Previous Headache Clinic experience
