Job Summary
The incumbent will work closely with the UCSF Citywide Division Director and Division Administrator to collect, analyze, and present data for the purposes of program evaluation and monitoring, presentation to stakeholders and community partners, and research and quality improvement, The incumbent will independently gather, analyze, and interpret a wide variety of programmatic, quality improvement, and research data. The incumbent will assist with activities such as shaping project questions, completing data extractions, and engaging in advance data cleaning. Within these efforts, the incumbent will select data samples, develop research instruments, analyze collected information according to established statistical methods, and developing recommendations based on research findings. The Data Analyst will prepare reports, charts, tables, and other visual aids to interpret and communicate data and results, all of which requires advanced-level, technical knowledge and skills.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $105,900 - $163,500 (Annual Rate).

Department Description
The Division of Citywide Case Management Programs at UCSF/ZSFG, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, has a primary location at 1263 Mission Street, San Francisco, in addition to other sites within San Francisco. The Division provides comprehensive outpatient treatment to those suffering from severe mental illness, often complicated by homelessness, chronic traumatization, institutionalization, substance use disorders and chronic medical conditions. The mission of the Division is to help clients through a recovery model of care, while reducing reliance on acute services, and facilitate transitions from ZSFG psychiatric inpatient hospitalization, jails, or other institutions to the community. Our programs serve a diverse group of individuals, in terms of social, cultural, and linguistic characteristics; and is structured around interdisciplinary teams. Interventions provided include psychotherapy, crisis intervention, psychotropic medication management, case management, outreach, and employment services.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with coursework in Psychology (or a related field such as Sociology) and Statistics and minimum five years of experience equivalent combination of experience/training
- Advanced skills associated with statistical analysis, database management and systems programming.
- Advanced skills in analysis and consultation.
- Advanced ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.
- Advanced research skills at a level to evaluate alternate solutions and develop recommendations.
- Advanced project management skills. Ability to lead and influence within and external to project team.
- Advanced ability to think creatively to recommend action steps or strategize solutions relative to research.
- Familiarity and comfort with use of mobile phone apps, preferred knowledge of apps designed to promote wellness.
- Demonstrates commitment to racial equity and to the continued development of multi-cultural understanding and professional development through trainings, workshops, readings, etc.
- Excellent documentation skills, ability to set priorities, work both independently and collaboratively, excellent follow-up, work well under pressure.
- In-depth knowledge of research function.
- Proven flexibility to adjust to constantly changing priorities.
