Job Summary
The Wilson lab is looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and organized Staff Research Associate I/II (SRA I/II) to assist in research aimed at deploying metagenomic next generation sequencing to improve the speed and accuracy of diagnostic tests in diseases such as TB meningitis. We also work on antigen discovery in various autoimmune and infectious diseases affecting the central nervous system. One of our main goals is to define the role of CNS derived B cells and antibodies in patients with a range of diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, NMDA receptor encephalitis, COVID-19, and other rare or novel autoimmune encephalopathies.
To aid in the lab's efforts, the SRA I/II will assist the lab with processing blood and cerebrospinal fluid from patients around the world with neurological diseases. They will then perform various downstream experiments with these samples, such as PCR and next generation sequencing.
As we work with precious patient samples that typically must be processed as soon as they arrive in our lab, some scheduling flexibility and a positive attitude are important. In return, you will receive the opportunity to work with cutting edge technology and unique, fascinating patient populations in a collaborative work environment. We are an innovative, passionate group of researchers and hope to find someone who shares our commitment to the exciting work we are doing.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $28.04 - $45.09 (Hourly Rate).
