Under the supervision of the Administrative Nurse, the Medical Assistant (MA) will be responsible for providing patient care, ensuring positive outcomes and patient satisfaction. Responsibilities include patient check-in, vitalization, collecting information, coordinating clinic flow, assisting with procedures, transporting patients, and maintaining a safe patient care environment. The MA will also participate in quality assurance projects, maintain clinical logs, and assist with scheduling patient appointments.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Perform routine clinical functions such as taking vital signs, documenting chief complaints, and assisting with patient exams and procedures.
- Use interpreting services for patient communication, as needed.
- Complete competencies required for department specialties.
- Obtain and handle specimens for Point of Care Testing (POCT).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with infection control policies.
Communication:
- Demonstrate professionalism and courtesy in all communication with patients and staff.
- Notify providers of delays, advocate for patients, and ensure smooth clinic schedules.
- Provide updates to patients in the waiting room when there are significant delays.
- Share important observations with the health team and suggest improvements for clinic operations.
Operations Maintenance:
- Maintain clean and well-stocked exam rooms, order supplies, and ensure lab equipment is functional.
- Assist in managing lab results, and coordinate coverage for meal/rest periods.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including wait time studies.
Required Qualifications :
- Minimum of 6 months of relevant experience in a healthcare or clinical setting, preferably in a medical assisting role.
- Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience.
- American Heart Association CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Previous experience assisting patients with personal care needs, including bathroom responsibilities; Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or equivalent experience preferred.
- One year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a healthcare setting.
- CPT 1 certification and peripheral blood draw experience.
- Experience working with oncology patients.

Pay: $25.98 - $39.82 per hour
