Nursing Supervisor - Assistant Unit Director Neuroscience Specialty UnitFull Time83764BRJob SummaryExperienced High Acuity RN needed at Parnassus Heights!In this key role, you will : Ensure optimal patient outcomes are met through effective leadership and / or provision of patient care delivery in assigned nursing unit(s) or area(s).Advocate for a shared voice in nursing practice and exchange of ideas to continually improve nursing and patient care outcomes.Take accountability for the quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of patient care.Consult and collaborate with other health care professionals to coordinate the management of patient care.Serve as a resource to staff, physicians, students, and others.Key responsibilities include : Supervising staff involved in providing clinical patient care.Assisting in ensuring the quality of patient care delivery in a specific patient care area and serving as a role model for professional nursing practice.Assisting with the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources.Potentially assuming full responsibility for the unit in delegated areas and in the absence of the manager.Required QualificationsRecent (within the past 3 years) inpatient clinical RN at a Transitional or Critical Care level of care.Recent administrative oversight in an inpatient setting (within the past year), e.g., previous experience as an Assistant Nurse Manager, charge nurse, or similar role.Demonstrated skills to effectively supervise clinicians and manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with a patient care unit.In-depth knowledge of patient care clinical standards and care delivery, systems, external regulations, and internal policies.Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources matters and employee performance.Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate levels of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions.Strong interpersonal skills for effective information exchange and problem-solving with all levels of management and staff, consultants, and outside agencies.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates and convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner.Knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in nursing units or departments.Schedule flexibility to provide unit accommodation as well as orient and work at all UCSF locations.Willingness to flex your schedule to work outside of standard business hours to support night shift staff (e.g., 1400-2200 or 1800-0200).Preferred QualificationsInvolvement in unit and / or hospital committees.Clinical Nurse III competency level.Master's Degree preferred.ACLS certification.Certification in a specialty (CNRN, SCRN, or PCCN).License / CertificationActive Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California.Active American Heart Association CPR Certification.NIHSS certification.About UCSFAt UCSF Health, our mission of innovative patient care, advanced technology, and pioneering research is redefining what’s possible for the patients we serve – a promise we share with the professionals who make up our team.Consistently ranked among the top 10 hospitals nationwide by U.S. News & World Report, UCSF Health is committed to providing the most rewarding work experience while delivering the best care available anywhere.
