Job Summary
The research data analyst will join a collaborative and exciting team of researchers at the F.I. Proctor Foundation studying infectious/inflammatory eye diseases and child health in the U.S. and internationally. Researchers at the F.I. Proctor Foundation conduct clinical trials and large epidemiological studies on ocular inflammatory diseases which can cause blindness. Our research portfolio also includes trials focused on improving child survival in high mortality settings. The epidemiological studies involve large administrative databases and multicenter clinical trials involve domestic and international collaboration. This position requires an employee with excellent communication and organizational skills who can be relied upon to play an integral role in implementing research studies (including international clinical trials) and for primary statistical analyses of a complex nature. The incumbent will be asked to contribute to study design from a methodological standpoint, help with database creation, management and analysis, as well as to assist in the writing of grants, progress reports, and manuscripts. Responsibilities will also include communication with and coordination of collaborating organizations, training investigators and study personnel, and being responsible for regulatory approvals. Travel to study sites may also be required for study implementation and monitoring.
The employee should show a strong interest in clinical research and a desire to contribute to the state of knowledge on the prevention, treatment and correlates of disease. The incumbent must be able to multi-task, problem-solve, and apply creative solutions to new and unexpected situations at first with substantial supervision but gradually with more and more limited supervision. The employee must be able to communicate effectively verbally and through written materials with collaborators.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $84,400 - $120,100 (Annual Rate).

The F.I. Proctor Foundation for Research in Ophthalmology at UCSF is committed to engaging in research activities and providing state-of-art patient care that address infectious and inflammatory disease that cause blindness. The mission is the prevention of blindness worldwide through research and teaching focused on infectious and inflammatory eye disease.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in epidemiology or biostatistics/statistics, global health, or related field
- 3 or more years of study management experience and/or practical data analysis or related work experience
- Experience with statistical software packages (R and/or STATA) or equivalent tool
- Research skills at a level to evaluate alternate solutions and develop recommendations.
- Skills in project management.
- Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.
- Thorough skills in analysis and consultation.
- Thorough skills associated with statistical analysis and systems programming.
- Thorough knowledge of research function.
