What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Billing Coding Supervisor position at University of California?
The Supervisor must be flexible and adept at juggling multiple tasks with competing priorities. He/she must ensure prompt and professional responses to staff, faculty, and administrative questions related to job responsibilities. Duties include researching coding questions, working the queues as needed, training staff, updating billing workflow processes, and updating workflows. Supervisor will work with Revenue Managers and Associate Directors to conduct and implement continuous process improvement initiatives.
The Supervisor must demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively and promptly with all levels of faculty, management, and staff within a deadline-driven and team-oriented environment. He/she is responsible for providing updates to the management team on work queue status, staff productivity/performance, and escalating potential issues to management when outside of scope to resolve. It is crucial that this position provides ongoing updates and ensures complete transparency to the management team. He/she must demonstrate the ability to perform all duties in a professional and courteous manner and will conform to all UCSF and HIPAA policies and procedures.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. The annual salary range for this position is $98,300-$210,300, with a target entry point of $141,128. - Bachelor's degree in a related area or four years of equivalent relevant training in coding and revenue cycle.
- One or more years of supervising and/or lead experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of professional fee coding (CPT and ICD-10).
- Previous experience working in healthcare.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work onsite in our Emeryville office.
- Prior progressive supervisory experience within a healthcare organization.
- Experience with applicable CMS regulations for academic teaching hospitals.
- Prior working knowledge of the EPIC (Apex) system.
- Strong computer skills; proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or RHIT in good standing with AAPC or AHIMA.
- Familiarity in reporting and Excel.
Salary : $98,300 - $210,300
