Academic Success Coaches are current students who demonstrate a mastery of the holistic elements of academic success. Academic Success Coaches help students identify barriers to academic success and assist them in creating action plans for overcoming those challenges. Academic Success Coaches help their assigned students to maximize their potential for academic success by supporting them holistically and by assisting them in gaining effective study strategies and behaviors.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Work collaboratively with their assigned Academic Success Advisor to coordinate/implement the proactive advising model, respond to academic alerts, manage cases, and assist with other caseload campaigns and interventionsWork one-on-one with students to identify and overcome barriers to their academic successAssess students’ current practices and make suggestions for improvementProvide individualized outreach to students based on identified risk factors including academic, financial and socio-emotionalUtilize and interpret various assessment tools develop and employ interpersonal communication skills including: face-to-face communication, email etiquette, and service referral strategiesAssist in the design and facilitation of academic success workshops, interventions and programs aimed at facilitating success in collegeGenerate reports and utilize data to discern patterns of success/difficulty and design strategic interventionsDemonstrate effective academic success strategies and provide accountability partnershipsAttend success coach organizational meetings, workshops, trainings and development courses as requiredPartner and work cooperatively with university staff, faculty, and administrationOther duties as assigned
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
NOTE: Successful candidate must have, or successfully complete the Peer Educator certification program (NASPA-CPE) during their first full semester.Working Hours: 12 - 16 hours per week
