Job Summary: |
This Open Rank Laboratory Sciences Professional (Intermediate to Senior) position is based within the Department of Pediatrics, Section of Nutrition. The candidate will work in the laboratory of Dr. Stephanie Gilley, which examines the role of early nutritional exposures on the development of obesity and metabolic disease. Responsibilities will involve management of animal studies and colonies, assisting in study design and execution of animal studies, use of genetic and molecular methods to study obesity, nutrition, pregnancy, and microbiome, and working with human samples. Work will also involve conducting laboratory assays and general lab management such as ordering supplies, maintenance of equipment, and other research administrative tasks. Experience in animal techniques including animal handling, blood collection, oral gavage, and surgeries will be preferred. A willingness to learn basic molecular biology techniques (including RNA/DNA extraction, protein work, and gel electrophoresis) is required. Good communication skills (both verbal and written) and research documentation are essential. Key Responsibilities:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as: Intermediate Level: $48,970 to $62,290 Senior Level: $52,941 to $67,341 The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck.
