Job Summary

Colorado Law encourages applications for the Evening Circulation Supervisor! This role is responsible for managing evening and weekend circulation desk support at the William A. Wise Law Library . This position works closely with other service partners to ensure consistent user-centered customer service and effective supervision of student employees at the circulation desk during evening and weekend operational hours. The Evening Circulation Supervisor collaborates with other team members to improve practices and operates independently to address sophisticated issues and changing needs with flexibility and diplomacy.

Circulation Desk Customer Service

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Staff the law library circulation desk in-person during evenings.
  • Work closely with the Head of Access Services to provide general patron services: circulation, printing, scanning, materials access, (using stacks, microform machines, etc.), and appropriate referrals.
  • Assist with other library services and routine patron account needs (study rooms, reserves, etc.)
  • Resolve common customer service issues and provide appropriate solutions to non-standard patron issues and inquiries.
  • Independently use job knowledge to derive solutions to non-standard patron issues and problems.

Library Support Services

  • Work with Access Services.
  • Update any practices and documentation librarians have evaluated for current library services, procedures, and practices.
  • Serves as evening site liaison for the Assistant Director for Facilities and Operations.
  • Stay current with any changes in library procedures.

Evening Circulation Supervision

  • Provide on-site support during evening operational hours, subject to change as per seasonal needs.
  • Work closely with the Access Services to ensure successful student worker scheduling and collaboration.
  • Identify potential scheduling challenges with circulation desk coverage and make suggestions for long-term solutions. Independently resolves short-term staffing needs.
  • Hire circulation desk student employees.
  • Train student employees in circulation procedures and policies.
  • Supervise student personnel during evening operational hours.
  • Work closely with the Head of Access Services to provide feedback on students and training needs.

Collection Processing And Maintenance

  • Collaborate with the Head of Access Services to supervise student employees and develop processes in collection management projects.
  • Initiate and undertake routine collection management processes within the William A. Wise Law Library.

What You Should Know

  • This is a fully on-site position. Working evenings is required.
  • The standard schedule is Sunday - Thursday from 2:30 PM - 10:30 PM. The schedule may vary based on building hours and department needs during finals, summer session, and intersessions but will consistently consist of 40 hours/week.
  • This position is eligible for shift differential pay as follows:
  • Weekend shift differential is 20%.
  • Second shift differential of 7.5% (Shall be paid for all hours worked when half or more of the scheduled work hours fall between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday).

What We Can Offer

The salary range for this position is $39,060 - $42,500 annually.

If you have prior state-classified experience in the same class series as this position, your pay may be set at a higher amount per the state Step Pay Program implemented on July 1, 2024.

What We Require

  • Two (2) years of experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position, or a combination of related education and/or relevant experience equal to two year of experience.
  • Must be able to work evening and weekend hours.
  • Must be a Colorado resident to apply.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Experience using the circulation module of an integrated library system (ILS).
  • Supervisory experience.
