The Division of Continuing Education at CU Boulder invites applications for a Tutor/Peer Mentor for our Post-Baccalaureate Health Professions cohort program! The primary responsibilities of this position are to create and deliver group and individual tutoring to the students, to provide individualized mentorship to fellow post-baccalaureate students, to build a sense of community among students in this population by coordinating and running periodic social events, to provide administrative support to the Program Director and Admissions Coordinator, and to provide input on the student perspective to program administrators. This position reports to the Pre-Health Program Director.

This will be a temporary, on-call position, so weekly work hours will be variable. The peer mentor must be available to work up to with a flexible schedule, to include evening availability, for 2-15 hours per week. Dates of employment: May 27, 2025 to May 26, 2026.

The hire rate for this position is $24.00 per hour.

Responsibilities
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Serve as a tutor to students enrolled in the Post-Baccalaureate Health Professions program:
- In the fall and spring semesters, creating and delivering tutoring content in a manner that supports student learning:
- Group tutoring: one, 2-hour session per academic week.
- Individual tutoring: arranged upon request by students.
- Managing tutoring logistics:
- Reserving tutoring rooms and advising students of the time and location of tutoring sessions.
- Arranging for a substitute tutor or rescheduling an upcoming session in advance if you know you must miss a tutoring session.
- Offer a primary point of contact for students who have questions and concerns via in-person meet-ups, email, phone, text, and/or Zoom.
- Schedule and 1:1 conduct meetings with each student in the fall and spring terms
- Periodically attend Continuing Education Pre-Health Advising group meetings to answer attendee questions from the student perspective and to generate feedback for the presenter.
- Participate in the program’s community-building events (full-day orientation program, ropes course, etc.) and end-of-term celebrations.
- Act as a student advocate, soliciting feedback and ideas from the students and communicating those suggestions to program staff.
- Refer students, as needed, to appropriate staff and other campus resources.
- Participate in monthly meetings with program staff (each meeting is 1.5 hours in duration), plus occasional additional meetings, as needed.
- Assist the Admissions Coordinator with the admissions process by reviewing PostbacCAS applications and serving as an admissions interviewer.
- Talk with prospective students about the program (by phone, Zoom, or in-person).
- May include tasks such as crafting surveys and compiling responses, coordinating and participating in other special events, managing/contributing to the program’s social media accounts, reviewing or crafting informational handouts for students, etc.

What We Require
- Completed Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution. Equivalent experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis,
- By May 2025, completion of the cohort-based Post-Baccalaureate Health Professions program at CU Boulder.
- A high degree of personal responsibility, self-motivation, and attention to detail.
- Strong public speaking skills.
- Interest in providing academic tutoring and mentorship to students with the goal of promoting the students’ academic success, pre-health preparation, and sense of community.
- Interest in representing the program in communications with prospective students.
- Interest in serving as an admissions application reviewer and interviewer.
