The University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine invites applications for a full-time faculty position as Residency Program Director in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Rank may be at the Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor level commensurate with academic accomplishments and qualifications.
The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery sponsors a six year OMFS/MD and a four year OMFS residency program and is responsible for predoctoral and postdoctoral instruction in oral and maxillofacial surgery, anesthesia/pain control, medical emergencies, and related areas.
The position requirements are as follows:
* DMD/DDS degree
* Completion of formal residency training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery from a CODA accredited residency program
* ABOMS board certification or eligibility
* Eligibility for licensure in CT
* Eligibility for sedation permits in CT
* previous teaching experience at the postgraduate level
* knowledge of/familiarity with accreditation standards and processes in OMFS
* superior administrative and communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively with faculty across the School of Dental Medicine and affiliated training sites
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
* administration of the residency training programs in OMFS
* Didactic instruction at the predoctoral and postdoctoral levels
* Clinical instruction and precepting in the intramural student and resident OMFS clinics and at affiliated hospitals and training sites
* Direct patient care within the OMFS faculty practice
* Assigned call for patient care and emergencies at the School of Dental Medicine, John Dempsey Hospital, and affiliated hospitals
* Active participation in scholarly activity and service
