Assistant Professor/Neuro-ophthalmologist
The Department of Neurology and Division of Ophthalmology at the University of Connecticut Health Center seek a BE/BC neuro-ophthalmologist for a full time position at the rank of Assistant Professor (or more senior rank depending on experience). The candidate should have at least 1 year fellowship training in Neuro-ophthalmology after completion of US residency training in either Neurology or Ophthalmology. The successful applicant will have a strong commitment to clinical excellence, dedication to teaching at the medical student and/or resident level, and some experience and interest in clinical research. This position will be the second neuro-ophthalmologist, joining a neurology-based neuro-ophthalmologist in a rapidly growing practice. The specifics of the position can be tailored to the training background and interests of the applicant.
The successful candidate will have educational responsibilities to teach medical students, residents, and fellows in a hospital and clinical setting. The applicant should have accomplishments or prior faculty experience sufficient to merit appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. Appointment at senior rank is possible depending on experience and prior academic achievement.
The successful applicant will be responsible for clinical service, teaching, and clinical investigation.
Provide consultative care of patients with neurological problems admitted to John Dempsey Hospital as well as outpatient follow up in Neuro-Ophthalmology Clinic at the UConn Health Outpatient Pavilion. General neurology patients may be seen when/if subspecialty patients are not available.
Teach medical students, medical residents, and neurology residents and fellows rotating on the neurology consult service at John Dempsey Hospital as well as in the outpatient clinic.
Lead and develop clinical, education, research or quality improvement programs related to the care of neurological patients.
Minimum Qualifications : Neurology Residency
Board certified/eligible Neurologist
Board certified/eligible in Neuro-Ophthalmology
Special and Preferred Qualifications : Board certified/eligible in Neurology
One or more years of fellowship training in Neuro-Ophthalmology
