At the UCHC, this class is accountable for acting as a working supervisor for those engaged in patient account functions.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Receives general direction from an employee of higher grade.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Leads/supervises lower level staff as assigned.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Plans unit workflow and determines priorities; schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews work; establishes and maintains unit procedures; provides staff training and assistance; conducts or assists in conducting performance evaluations; acts as liaison with operating units, agencies, patients and outside officials regarding unit policies and procedures; may make recommendations on policies or standards; may prepare reports and correspondence; compiles statistics; may develop fee schedules; reconciles patient accounts; maintains on-line batch control system; oversees input of all miscellaneous charges/cash/insurance receipts/adjustments to the system; coordinates/reviews completed medicare audits; maintains coding system in revenue file; reviews discharge edit, pending accounts, inpatient A/R for aging accounts, third party accounts; monitors performance of collection agencies and makes recommendations for continuing/discontinuting such agencies; may recommend referrals to attorney for legal action; approves pay plans; performs registrations and billings; performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
Knowledge of patient accounts functions; knowledge of health center policy and procedures; knowledge of computers; knowledge of physician billing systems, including appropriate coding references; knowledge of collection and billing regulations and procedures; knowledge of medical terminology; considerable interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills; ability schedule and prioritize workflow; ability to analyze fee schedules; some supervisory ability.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
General Experience:
Five (5) years experience in a patient services/billing/accounts or customer service environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
CRCR certified
3 years EPIC accounts receivable /revenue cycle experience
3 years Cash Management experience including general ledger
Strong working knowledge of ANSI standard coding
Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft skills
SCHEDULE: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.
