At UConn Health this class is accountable for conducting religious services and ministering to pastoral needs of the patients, families, staff, and the UConn Health community. This position is located in Farmington, CT.
THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION WITH NO STATE PAID BENEFITS
SCHEDULE: As needed and includes evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate needs of the community and organization.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the general supervision of an employee of higher grade.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Administers rites and sacraments
Consults with staff to provide effective pastoral care to patients, families and those who serve them
Participates in team meetings
Keeps records and writes reports
May speak to lay and professional groups
Participates in various educational programs
Assists in organizing and conducting seminars for community clergy
Performs related duties as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Knowledge of interfaith spiritual care in the hospital setting
Interpersonal skills
Oral and written communication skills
Ability to perform the requirements of formal religious services
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: General Experience:
A Degree accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) OR if not a CHEA accredited institution, an equivalency may be considered by the BCCI (bcci@apchaplains.org).
Four (4) units of clinical pastoral education in a program accredited by the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE). The required CPE for Board certified Chaplains is four (4) units. Those currently enrolled in CPE with the intention of completing four units will be considered.
Ordination or commissioning by incumbent's religious body and endorsement by one's denominational authority
Board certification as a chaplain by the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) OR eligible to become board certified.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Incumbents in this class may be exposed to communicable/infectious diseases and some disagreeable conditions
Hourly Rate: $25.00
