CONTEXT OF THE JOB :
The Hadden Lab (https : / / sites.udel.edu / jhadden / ) in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Delaware is seeking a postdoctoral researcher. The Hadden Lab specializes in molecular dynamics simulations of viral proteins and their assemblies. Under the supervision of Dr. Jodi Hadden-Perilla, the postdoctoral researcher will take the lead in applying molecular dynamics simulations to characterize super-fluorescent viromimetic particles derived from plant virus capsids, in a project funded by the National Science Foundation. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Carry out high-quality computational research on viral protein dynamics.
- Construct molecular models, integrating data from experimental sources.
- Perform molecular dynamics simulations and related calculations.
- Design, program, and execute hypothesis-driven analyses of molecular dynamics simulation trajectories.
- Work up scientific data for publication and prepare manuscripts.
- Attend national and / or international conferences to represent the lab and present results.
- Assist in preparation of grant proposals to support the research.
ENVIRONMENTAL / OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURES :
Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
