Overview
The position will provide support the practices of attorneys in the Legal Department by maintaining and organizing electronic and paper files; performing basic legal and public record research; supporting litigation and claims handling functions; supporting regulatory agency relationships; supporting contract administration function; and providing office management and administrative support.Qualifications
Required Education: Associate's degree; Minimum two years of post-secondary education from an accredited college or certified through NALA as a certified legal assistant or paralegal, or any equivalent combination of training and experience (preferably within a hospital, other corporate law department, or law firm). Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree. Necessary Skills: � Must be stickler for detail and accuracy. � Must be highly organized. � Must enjoy problem solving. � Must be able to work within Web-based databases to conduct legal research and public records searches. � Must be able to work in electronic databases. � Must enjoy people and embrace the mission of the medical center to heal, comfort, and educate. � Must be flexible multi-tasker with ability to work both independently and as a team member, and under pressure. � Must be fluent with MS Word, Windows, PowerPoint, and Excel. � Must be able to operate office equipment including personal computer, facsimile, computer printer, copier, scanner and telephone systems. � Must have excellent interpersonal and communication (speaking and listening) skills. � Shorthand is not required, but would be highly beneficial. � Must have working knowledge of /experience with principles of confidentiality and privileged communications. Required Licensure/Certifications.: Maintain active Florida Notary Public Commission. Required Experience: 3-5 years' experience as legal assistant or paralegal support to attorneys Preferred Experience: Experience within hospital legal department, hospital operations, or academic medical center in the legal, regulatory compliance, or corporate compliance department. Experience dealing with state or federal regulatory agencies, preferably in healthcare.
