Job Description:The Resident Assistant position within the Department of Housing & Residence Life is required to live on campus as a resident in a residence hall in an assigned room.
General Responsibilities:
- Enhance and maintain a sense of shared community in the designated residential area by facilitating intentional interactions, social activities, and other opportunities for residents to interact with each other
- Assist residents in the assigned residential area acting as a referral agent to available resources, services, and facilities on campus
- Foster a culture of continuous care by serving in an on-call role and supporting our students through effective emergency management procedures
- Know and implement Housing & Residence Life crisis protocol within assigned area
- Assist in conflict resolution among residents by educating residents about housing policies and the mediation process
- Consistently enforce Student Honor Code & Student Conduct Code by reporting observed violations through the appropriate process
- Serve as a model of responsible behavior to assist residents in the transition to UF and throughout the collegiate experience
- Create a residential environment that fosters a sense of belonging and encourages residents to utilize departmental and campus resources
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings, and individual meetings with supervisor; participate in staff development activities
- Support the University and Housing & Residence Life by serving and participating on task forces and committees
The Resident Assistant will receive:
- A stipend in the amount of $6,700 for a 9-month appointment (August 2025 - May 2026)
- Semesterly housing rental agreement will be at the established rental rate for the Resident Assistant position
This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.5 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.
- Enrolled as a full-time student in good standing as defined by the University at the time of
employment which includes a successful conduct/honor code review - Maintain a 2.5 cumulative and semester GPA the semester prior to employment
- Be available for 20-hours per week
- Committed to facilitating interaction among members of the university community
- At least one semester experience (online or in-person) at the University of Florida
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve, manage time, and lead others
- Demonstrated professionalism, dependability, and timeliness
- Ability to work well within a team and with individuals
