Position Information Position Title Assistant Director, Women's Advancement Initiative FLSA Classification EX Reports to Executive Director, Women's Advancement Inititative Salary Range E Weeks Per Year 52 Work Week 40 hours (minimum) Position Summary Assumes responsibility for actively supporting the development, design and implementation of women’s education and leadership programs which promote, positively position and facilitate the advancement of program goals, reputation, vision and mission of The Women’s Advancement Initiative (WAI), a legacy of the Hartford College for Women. Performs all duties in full support of the University’s mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University’s students. Hiring Range Starting salary is budgeted between $58,024 to $70,000, depending upon experience Key Responsibilities Key Responsibilities

  • Leads the design, implementation and evaluation of innovative women’s education and leadership programs for the WAI, facilitating connections between students, faculty and / or staff and other internal and external constituencies in an effort to create an engaging environment where participants can explore leadership opportunities through experiences, training, personal assessment, activity-based learning, advisement and pragmatic training in essential skills. Researches educational and / or developmental needs of women served by programs in an effort to create and refine course design designed to respond to these needs and expectations of employers. Continually evaluates the effectiveness of WAI programming in an effort to identify areas for improvement. Serves as primary internal facilitator of programs, presenting courses on various topics. Actively recruits and manages external speakers as necessary and / or appropriate. WAI programs (such as Dorothy Goodwin Scholars, LEAD, Laura Johnson Leaders, and scholarship programs) are assigned to specific staff.
  • Actively participates in the development, implementation and oversight of short and long-range strategic departmental initiatives which align with industry best practices. Works closely with the Executive Director and the Board of the WAI in the analysis and evaluation of programs, events and results in an effort to best inform designing and setting objectives to achieve institutional and / or WAI program goals.
  • Oversees communication initiative (such as magazine, letters, outreach, web and social media for the WAI in compliance with departmental and University web policies as well as established data integrity standards. Works closely with the Office of Marketing and Communication to ensure consistent use of the University’s brand identity. Maintains awareness of trends in communication / social media.
  • Establishes, cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty, alumnae / I, volunteers and donors in an effort to positively position and effectively support the WAI. Collaborates with the Executive Director and the Office of Institutional Advancement in an effort to successfully leverage existing connections and resources to achieve fundraising goals. Researches and / or develops new programing which matches potential and current donor opportunities. Provides high quality customer service to internal and external constituents.
  • Assists the Executive Director in the maintenance of operating budgets, continuously identifying opportunities to increase revenues, optimize resources and ensure prudent fiscal oversight. Tracks and monitors expenses and fundraising to ensure expenses are in line with budgets and projections and compliance with funding directives. Generates budget reports and supports the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual statistical reports. Assists in the preparation of Board meetings and quarterly reports, federal, state and other mandatory reporting.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
