Introduction
The position is administered by the Office of the Chancellor, at Kapi'olani Community College ("KapCC"). The Executive Director of Strategy (EDS) is responsible for administrative control for planning and administering the college strategic plan, accreditation and Native Hawaiian Success. This position entails providing essential support as an indigenous serving institution. The position directly promotes the college mission, vision and values and carries out activities to move the college towards fulfilling its kuleana to Native Hawaiians and Hawai'i. The 'Aina Based Learning Coordinator should possess the passion and express aloha to increase the abundance of Hawaiian plants and expand educational capacity of, with campus gardens as its piko.
Duties And Responsibilities

- Works closely with campus's Groundskeeper to maintain and care for Native Hawaiian plants on the Kapi'olani Community College campus, including watering, weeding, mulching, pruning, trimming, and pest / disease control, etc.
- Manages and leads groups of students to assist with responsibilities primarily to :
- organize and lead work days and workshops for faculty and staff;
- develop ideas for community outreach to engage and involve community partners.
- Participates in monthly Native Hawaiian Plant Action Committee ("NHPAC") meetings and report on activities / progress.
- Works with NHPAC to provide key support for Malama KapCC events as and when organized.
- Leads on-campus garden tours during Malama KapCC events and as needed for members of the campus community.
- Serves as an advisor for students participating in 'aina-based learning experiences by identifying students' learning needs and evaluates their performance.
- Plans, organizes and carries out 'aina based learning activities relevant to areas, both instructional and non-instructional activities such as work days, tours, school or community visits, classroom visits which require collaboration with instructors to incorporate their content.
- Develops and maintains an approved program of professional development for employees at Kapi'olani CC.
- Collaborates with faculty to integrate 'aina based learning into their curriculum, including culturally relevant co-curricular activities, student learning outcomes and alignment to strategic planning
- Other duties as assigned
