This is NOT a remote position – job requires in-person work.
Evening, weekend, television, distance education (i.e. Lanai and Molokai) and off-campus (various high school campuses) may be assigned as part of regular workload.
Position may be converted from 9-month to 11-month based on operational needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Under general supervision, teach a range of college-level history courses, including U.S. History, World Civilizations and Asian and/or Pacific History.
- Work with colleagues and independently to develop curriculum and to identify, plan, develop and implement learning strategies to meet student, special population, college and community needs.
- Perform other related work as assigned which may include, but is not limited to, advising and counseling students, assisting in campus-related faculty and student activities, participating in self-development activities, program review, assessment and course and program development.
- Other duties as assigned
- Master’s Degree in History
- Teaching experience, preferably in a community college or university setting, in the area of Hawaiian, Asian and/or Pacific History.
- Substantial coursework in Hawaiian, Asian and/or Pacific History and world cultures and/or world history.
- Experience in developing history curricula.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others and to communicate clearly.
- Experience in mentoring or supervising student research and writing.
- Experience in working with people from various social, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds and with diverse academic interests and abilities.
- Distance teaching experience, including synchronous and asynchronous online classes and/or cable classes.
