This is NOT a remote position – job requires in-person work.
Evening, weekend, television, distance education (i.e. Lanai and Molokai) and off-campus (various high school campuses) may be assigned as part of regular workload.
Position may be converted from 9-month to 11-month based on operational needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Under general supervision, teach a range of college-level history courses, including U.S. History, World Civilizations and Asian and/or Pacific History.
  2. Work with colleagues and independently to develop curriculum and to identify, plan, develop and implement learning strategies to meet student, special population, college and community needs.
  3. Perform other related work as assigned which may include, but is not limited to, advising and counseling students, assisting in campus-related faculty and student activities, participating in self-development activities, program review, assessment and course and program development.
  4. Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:  
 
  • Master’s Degree in History
 Desirable Qualifications:
 
  1. Teaching experience, preferably in a community college or university setting, in the area of Hawaiian, Asian and/or Pacific History.
  2. Substantial coursework in Hawaiian, Asian and/or Pacific History and world cultures and/or world history.
  3. Experience in developing history curricula.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others and to communicate clearly.
  5. Experience in mentoring or supervising student research and writing.
  6. Experience in working with people from various social, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds and with diverse academic interests and abilities.
  7. Distance teaching experience, including synchronous and asynchronous online classes and/or cable classes.
