Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of STEM education research and demonstration projects for elementary, secondary and postsecondary school students at on or off campus locations, ensuring inclusion of students with disabilities and those from other underrepresented groups such as Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, and Filipino backgrounds.
  • Collaborate with schools, colleges, community partners, educators, and industry professionals to implement STEM initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external organizations to support project sustainability and scale.
  • Ensure projects align with the goals of fostering equity, accessibility, and excellence in STEM education.
  • Lead and test the development and differentiation of culturally responsive and inclusive STEM curricula and resources for diverse learners. 
  • Integrate up-to-date technology into STEM curricula and activities.
  • Provide training and resources to family, educators or employers on accessibility, inclusivity, and culturally responsive teaching strategies and technology integration.
  • Collaborate in disseminating findings and products through journals and conference presentations. 
  • Collaborate in grant writing to sustain funding.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Master’s degree from a college or university of recognized standing in Education, STEM disciplines, or a related field.
  2. Facility in the techniques of STEM education.
  3. Accuracy, alertness, and adaptability.
  4. Professionalism in meeting and conferring with others. 
  5. Minimum of 3 years of experience in coordinating federal grant funded STEM educational programs.
  6. Minimum of 3 years of experience in developing and adapting STEM curriculum and assessments for diverse learners, including students with disabilities and/or those from Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, or Filipino backgrounds.
  7. Familiarity with Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, and/or Filipino cultures and experience working with these communities in an educational setting.
  8. Experience teaching STEM lessons to diverse student populations, including students with disabilities and those from Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, and Filipino backgrounds. 
  9. Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to professionally meet and confer with diverse audiences and stakeholders. 
  10. Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively with teams.
 
Desirable Qualifications:
  1. Experience in designing and implementing accessible curricula or resources for students with disabilities.
  2. Experience in building partnership with community STEM organizations and professionals. 
  3. Experience in conference presentations and public speaking. 
  4. Experience in collecting and entering research data, including assessments, surveys, and class observations, following the IRB guidelines. 
  5. Experience in writing a grant proposal to secure funding through grants for educational programs or research initiatives.
