University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis is currently looking for an adjunct instructor to teach an introductory biology lab section in the Fall 2025 Semester. The lab focuses on biology laboratory methods and concepts for undergraduate students to support the biology 1 lecture material. The lab instructor will work closely with biology faculty to teach UHSP’s talented students who are in academic programs focused on health sciences and pharmacy. Compensation is based on the number of sections taught.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Instruct students in understanding introductory biological concepts during a 2-3 hour laboratory period.
- Respond to student questions and concerns
- Grade assessments
- Help create and grade practical examinations. Potentially oversee and work with teaching assistants during the laboratory period
- Ensure that the laboratory is cleaned up and ready for the next section
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:
Minimum Qualifications:
- M.S. degree or equivalent in Biology or related field
- Biology laboratory skills – microscope use, micropipetting, DNA extractions, PCR/DNA gel electrophoresis, dissection
- Availability to teach in-person labs during regular business hours
- Some work as a teaching assistant, instructor or significant lab-related work in topics covered in undergraduate biology courses
Preferred Qualifications
- College-level teaching experience in undergraduate biology courses/labs.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as D2L Brightspace.
