Description:
The Vice President for Administration and Finance serves an integral part of the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) executive leadership team as chief financial officer, providing strategic vision, organization and administrative oversight, and leadership to all aspects of the university’s financial resources and operating budget. The vice president supervises the areas of planning and budget, facilities management and construction, business operations, human resources, and campus public safety/university police.
The Vice President for Administration and Finance is responsible for the planning, development, and monitoring of the annual operating and capital budgets, oversees the university’s procurement contracts, evaluates potential investments, partnerships, and revenue-generating opportunities to support the university’s financial sustainability, and plays a key role in the financial planning that optimizes resources in support of the university’s mission and strategic priorities.
The Vice President supports the President on administrative and organizational issues, provides oversight and execution of the Office of Compliance in promoting a positive culture of ethics, integrity, accountability, and compliance, and works closely with the planning and budget committee, facilities construction committee and university life, the faculty senate leadership, university staff association, and student government.
Required Qualifications:
This position requires a master’s degree in finance, accounting, financial management, or a related field; CPA is preferred.
A minimum of ten years of progressive leadership experience in financial management is required, with preferred experience in higher education.
Required knowledge of federal, state, and local accounting rules and regulations, especially GASB, and ideally knowledge of the state of Texas.
Strong knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, and reporting principles and practices.
Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, data, and trend analysis.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders effectively.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and mentor staff.
Demonstrated excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to effectively collaborate with leaders in a team environment.
Salary : $100,000 - $179,000
