Posting Context Statement:
The Associate Director for Residence Life will report to the Director of Housing and Residence Life and will be responsible for providing leadership to the Residence Life unit within Housing and Residence Life.
Position Overview:
This position oversees the Housing conduct system and The Residence Hall Association.
Duties will include:
Duties will include:
- Supervise full-time and part time employees (70 )
- Act as a liaison and work collaboratively with multiple stake holders on and off campus
- Make decisions in assigning and sanctioning conduct cases and conduct administration within the residence hall system
- Counsels and provides comprehensive advising to students on a wide range of topics
- Responsible for the management and fiscal decision making for three separate budgets in each of the specific areas of responsibility (conduct and advising)
Required Experience:
- Three years of progressively responsible professional experience in residence life or housing
- Experience supervising staff
Required Education:
- Bachelors Degree; an additional four years (7 years total) of experience in Housing and Residence Life may substitute for a Bachelors Degree
Required Other:
- Must have valid drivers license and ability to meet U of I driving requirements
- Ability to work a non-standard schedule that may include weekends and holidays
Additional Preferred:
- Masters degree in College Personnel Administration, Student Affairs, Higher Education
Demonstrated experience with:
- Student leadership development and student organizations
- Student development theory and practice
- Enhancing relationships within student life departments
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic computer skills including word processing, spread-sheet and data-base operations
