The Graphic Designer Assistant for the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Advancement uses design and art direction to help engage alumni and friends and inspire them to give in support of UIC's mission and priorities. This role collaborates with advancement communications colleagues to create compelling visual communications for alumni, donors, friends, faculty, staff, students, and community audiences across all of OVCA's communications channels.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Under direction from the associate designer and university creative director, develop designs that brand OVCA's marketing and communications efforts.
- Manage complex design projects by creating timelines, assigning deadlines, and coordinating reviews and approvals.
- Contribute design to projects across mediums, including : Web sites, e-newsletters, magazines, social media channels, video, mailings, event collateral, and more.
- Assist in serving internal clients.
- Develop and translate designs into usable templates on Canva, while also managing graphic assets on the platform.
- Work within and help reinforce the visual identity, brand standards, tone, and messaging for UIC.
- Stay abreast of marketing and design trends and best practices across all print and digital.
- Perform other duties as assigned to further the goals of the advancement office.
Minimum Qualifications Required :
1. Any one or any combination that equals thirty-six (36) months from the categories below :
A. credit for progressively more advanced college or art-school course work that would lead to a major in graphic / visual arts communication and / or design
B. work experience and / or on-the-job training that provided knowledge of progressively more advanced, generally accepted principles, theories, practices, and methods used in graphic designs and their applications to visual communications problems that are comparable to the training provided in the programs such as graphic / visual arts communication and / or design
