Position Summary
Serve as customer service representative for the Department of Diagnostic Services. The overall function is to provide, monitor and assure high quality service to our patients.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Directs patients, staff and visitors to clinical and departmental areas as required.
- Performs full patient registration, insurance verification, check in and check out duties
- Collects customer payments and perform related supporting duties.
- Receives and routes the incoming information calls to appropriate areas/individuals as required.
- Monitors patient wait times and report prolonged periods to the appropriate staff, escalating the issue to departmental leadership, when appropriate.
- Performs chart audits/enters/retrieves information into electronic databases.
- Performs appointment scheduling duties and referral retrieval duties.
- Performs all medical record related duties.
- Reports any broken equipment promptly, remove and label as broken.
- Performs charge and billing activities and insurance verification duties.
- Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
- Responds to complex inquiries (e.g., those involve approval from higher level personnel) in order to provide or clarify information on departmental services, policies, and procedures.
- Researches complex inquiries using multiple sources for quality control concerns and solves problems on individual cases.
- Composes complex correspondence and creates documentation/records.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Any one or combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the following categories:
- college coursework in business administration, communications, public relations or a closely related field as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- Bachelor’s degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
- responsible work experience in customer services, public relations, office administration, business and financial operations, healthcare administration or other closely related experience
