The office is focused on student recruitment, advancement, reputation management, and building community among the college’s key stakeholders.The Office of Communications and Marketing in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is searching for a Marketing Coordinator/Senior Marketing Coordinator.The Marketing Coordinator (digital marketing & social media) is part of the marketing team within the LAS Office of Communications and Marketing and focuses on developing and managing effective marketing content for the College of LAS across various media including social, email, and digital advertising. Using strong storytelling, creativity, and the college brand platform, the Marketing Coordinator helps the college achieve its goals in student recruitment, alumni engagement, fundraising, and reputation building.The Senior Marketing Coordinator (digital marketing & social media) plays a pivotal role in the development and execution of digital marketing strategies that advance the college's strategic goals of student recruitment, community building, reputation, and advancement. By focusing on digital marketing projects and social media management using data-driven strategy and strong storytelling within the college's brand platform, this position consists of increased execution and strategy responsibilities, including setting vision for the college's social media strategy. Duties & Responsibilities Marketing CoordinatorDigital Marketing Execution

  • Assist in the implementation of the college’s marketing plan, including developing emails, digital advertising, and web content and collateral
  • With marketing team lead, develop and refine marketing strategies across owned and paid media platforms, and provide recommendations to leadership on new and adjusted tactics
  • Maintain a pulse on market and industry trends by conducting market research and identifying new marketing opportunitiesSocial Media Management
  • Lead the daily management and monitoring of the college's social media platforms. Create, review, and maintain compelling content that resonates with target audiences
  • Assist with the college’s team-building and support for unit social media managers, including hosting trainings and providing resources. Collaborate with internal teams and campus-wide partners to amplify content and ensure alignment with college priorities, branding, and messaging
  • Assist in content creation for the Dean of the College of LAS and for social media advertising
  • Plan and track social media content utilizing team management tools such as Airtable to ensure organization and timely deliveryAnalytics & Branding
  • Ensure adherence to college brand and style guidelines across all channels
  • Use metrics to measure the impact of our digital media efforts, make recommendations based on that data, and experiment to ensure maximum impactProject Management
  • Contribute to and work within the project management program used by the team for maximum organization and efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned to further the mission of the college Senior Marketing CoordinatorDigital Marketing Strategy & Execution
  • Manage the creation, coordination, and delivery of digital marketing campaigns, including emails, ads, content, and collateral, in support of and in alignment with the college's strategic objectives
  • With marketing team lead, develop and refine marketing strategies across owned and paid media platforms, and provide recommendations to leadership on new and adjusted tactics
  • Regularly present digital marketing initiatives and performance analytics to team leaders, and utilize these data-driven insights to continuously refine strategies
  • Maintain a pulse on market and industry trends by conducting market research and identifying new marketing opportunities
  • Coordinate with external marketing and creative agencies as needed to ensure high-quality content and campaign execution Social Media Strategy & Execution
  • With the marketing team lead, establish social media strategy, goals, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive engagement and support the college’s strategic goals
  • Lead the daily management and monitoring of the college's social media platforms. Create, review, and maintain compelling content that resonates with target audiences
  • Lead the college’s team-building and support for unit social media managers, including hosting trainings and providing resources. Collaborate with internal teams and campus-wide partners to amplify content and ensure alignment with college priorities, branding, and messaging
  • Oversee the planning of and creation of social media content for the Dean of the College of LAS
  • Oversee the planning, creation, and execution of social media advertising campaigns to support college goals
  • Plan and track social media content utilizing team management tools such as Airtable to ensure organization and timely delivery Analytics & Branding
  • Ensure adherence to college brand and style guidelines across all channels
  • Use metrics to measure the impact of our digital media efforts, make recommendations based on that data, and experiment to ensure maximum impact
  • Monitor trends, competitor activity, and industry best practices to inform strategy. Use technology, such as social media listening tools, to identify opportunities, respond to audience insights, and align with the college’s brand voice and goals. Contribute to and work within the project management program used by the team for maximum organization and efficiency.Other duties as assigned to further the mission of the collegeRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, or a closely related field.
  • One (1) year (12 months)-Coordinator/ Three (3) years- Senior Coordinator: of professional work experience in marketing, public relations, communications, brand management, or a related professional area.
  • Work experience creating content for digital platforms and managing social media platforms in a professional environment or a closely related professional area.
  • Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.
  • For Senior Coordinator only:
  • Experience with digital marketing data analysis and engagement tracking in digital environments.
  • Experience using an email building platform, such as MailChimp, Litmus, Slate, etc to complete marketing campaigns

Preferred QualificationsFor Coordinator:

  • Experience with data analysis and engagement tracking in digital environments.
  • Experience using an email building platform, such as MailChimp, Litmus, Slate, or similar platforms

For Senior Coordinator:

  • Experience in developing and implementing data-informed marketing and communications plans, with a focus on web and other digital media platforms.
  • Experience working with external agencies.
  • Experience managing marketing interns or professional staff
  • Outstanding knowledge in social media tools, demographics, and best practices, including for Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok.
  • Ability to explain/teach social media best practices and provide guidance to student interns.
  • Knowledge of the units' structure and stories within the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences

Appointment InformationThis is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5004 - Marketing Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the deadline date. The budgeted salary range for the position is Marketing Coordinator: $50,000 to $60,000; Senior Marketing Coordinator: $60,000-$65,000. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs. Hybrid work options may be available for this position after an initial on-site training period, with the ability to be on-site at the Champaign-Urbana campus as needed per the University of Illinois workplace flexibility guidelines. Hybrid employees are expected to be on campus three days a week. Sponsorship for Work Authorization is not available for this position.
