The Department of Business Administration at the Gies College of Business, at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign has a position as Visiting Research Specialist to conduct research for the Illinois Strategic Organizations Initiative (ISOI). The successful candidate will conduct and oversee interdisciplinary research for the Illinois Strategic Organizations Initiative (ISOI) administered within the Department of Business Administration. The position may become non-visiting at a later time depending on funding and programmatic needs.

Job Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
Master’s degree in business administration, economics, communication, information management, or a related field.
Two years of experience in an academic and/or research environment.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position. The expected start date is as soon as possible after May 4, 2025 The budgeted salary range for the position is $50,000 to $55,000 annually.

Job Summary
Conduct and oversee interdisciplinary research for the Illinois Strategic Organizations Initiative (ISOI) administered within the Department of Business Administration.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Research
- Conduct field research through interviews, data collection, and analysis.
- Assist with qualitative and quantitative data analysis, manuscript preparation, and editing.
- Document methodologies to ensure reproducibility.
- Translate research findings into practice to facilitate deployment of research in academia and with ISOI partners.
- Coordinate research and project proposals with faculty and stakeholders.
- Distribute research award funding upon selection from principal(s).
- Build collaborations with academic researchers, sponsoring agencies, corporations, students, and other stakeholders.
- Administrative
- Plan, schedule, and promote events, seminars, and meeting logistics.
- Supervise undergraduate students, including training, assigning tasks, tracking work performance and deliverables, organizing datasets, and creating an inclusive and collaborative environment.
- Track and advise on annual expenditures including personnel, equipment, and travel for assigned principal(s) funds.
- Work with the department business office to administer grants and manage the funding for assigned areas and initiatives.
- Assist in preparing and managing faculty calendars, meeting agendas, and future follow up.
- Provide presentation creation and support.
- Process travel and purchasing expenses via P- & T-Card as necessary.
- Manage and update website and social media for assigned areas and initiatives.
- Support communication activities in conjunction with the College marketing office.
- Produce Annual reports
- Assume additional appropriate related duties to further the mission of the unit
Master’s degree in business administration, economics, communication, information management, or a related field.
Two years of experience in an academic and/or research environment.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a broad array of internal and external constituents.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite: Extensive knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Task Prioritization: Proven ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic work environment, ensuring timely completion of various responsibilities.
- High Volume Transaction Processing: Skilled in processing a high volume of transactions accurately and efficiently, with a strong attention to detail.
- Multitasking:Capable of managing multiple complex tasks concurrently, maintaining high levels of accuracy and efficiency.
