Resolution Specialist

Title VI Office, Office of the Vice Chancellor forDiversity, Equity and Inclusion

The Resolution Specialist will respond to Title VIMisconduct reports and meet with affected individuals regarding theirexperience, provide campus and community resources, discuss and implement supportivemeasures, and explain campus procedures. The Resolution Specialist will also beresponsible for resolving reports of Title VI Misconduct by identifying and interviewingrelevant parties and witnesses, assessing witness credibility, gathering andanalyzing relevant information, and reaching sound policy conclusions regardingwhether a hostile environment was created by reported behavior. The Resolution Specialist will coordinateefforts to eliminate the discriminatory conduct, prevent its recurrence andaddress its effects on affected individuals.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conductintake meetings with affected individuals when reports of Title VI Misconductare received, and ensure reasonable supportive measures are offered andimplemented as appropriate.
  • Conductpreliminary inquiries into reports by gathering available information andmeeting with witnesses.
  • Considerwhether reported Title VI Misconduct involves free speech or academic freedomin collaboration with university stakeholders.
  • Maintaindetailed case files of all activity taken on individual reports and theinformation collected. Understand when a case should be referred to otheruniversity offices and refer appropriately.
  • Assesswhether the incidents of reported Title VI Misconduct have created a hostileenvironment within a university program or activity.
  • Engage in steps to address TitleVI Misconduct to include remedial measures that are reasonably calculated toeliminate the discriminatory conduct, prevent its recurrence and address itseffects on affected individuals.
  • Assist with receiving andprocessing reports as they are submitted to the Title VI Office.
  • Coordinate and conduct Title VIand related training and educational programs for the university communityrelated to their rights, responsibilities, services and procedures.
  • Serve on committees on behalf ofthe Title VI Office.
  • Collaborate in the development ofperiodic and annual reports; support special projects or assignments given bythe Director, and / or the Vice Chancellor.
  • Stay current on state and nationallaws, regulations, and best practices to inform the work of the Title VI Officeand help identify areas of risk. Maintain knowledge through active professionaldevelopment.

  • A total of two (2) years (24 months) ineducation, training, and / or work experience in fact-finding, analyzing levelsof misconduct, and / or implementing supportive measures.
  • Demonstrated experience inhandling conflict resolution.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • JurisDoctor or Master's degree preferably in higher education, human resources,social work, or a related field.
  • Priorexperience working with civil rights claims.
  • Knowledgeof laws, regulations, and guidance governing misconduct response in highereducation.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting fact-finding.

  • Demonstratedexperience working with individuals in stressful situations.
  • Demonstratedexperience developing and providing educational programs and / or presentations.
  • Experiencemanaging highly confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Experience operating in databases and working with Excel.

  • Ability to prioritize work and successfully perform duties independently.
  • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse campus population.
  • Demonstrated ability to be inquisitive and detail oriented.
  • Appointment Information

    This is a 100% full-time Civil Service Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 3 / 14 / 2025. Salary is commensurate with experience. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
