Job Description

The Center for Aging & Community (CAC) at the University of Indianapolis, is led by the CAC Executive Director (ED). This multi-grant-funded, full-time, 12-month position provides overall leadership for the outward-facing unit, which includes budgetary, program, and personnel leadership. The ED provides primary direction to CAC in accordance with the mission of the University of Indianapolis. The ED works closely with other academic and administrative leadership on collaborative initiatives.

The ED leads CAC by providing vision and strategic planning. The ED serves as the official representative and spokesperson for CAC to internal and external groups, including university administration, aging network organizations throughout the state and region, and governmental and state agency officials, including legislators, the FSSA Division of Aging, the Indiana State Department of Health, and others. The ED leads the future evolution of CAC as a viable and effective organization within the university that has a significant impact on the quality of life for all people as they age.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the official spokesperson for CAC to internal and external audiences, including university leadership, aging organizations, state and regional agencies, and legislators.
  • Lead the development and implementation of CAC’s vision and strategic initiatives.
  • Secure funding through governmental grants, private foundations, and partnerships to support aging-related programs and services.
  • Provide leadership for CAC’s budget, programs, and personnel to ensure operational success and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with university administration and academic leaders on joint initiatives and partnerships.
  • Advocate for innovative solutions to challenges faced by aging populations.
  • Build and sustain relationships with stakeholders to enhance CAC’s reputation and impact.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a field broadly related to aging or community services.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years of professional experience with supervisory responsibilities (ten years preferred).
  • Strong track record of grant development, fundraising, and partnership cultivation.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated record of scholarship and engagement with academic communities.
  • Experience in policy development, program management, and community relations.

    Competencies:

  • Expertise in issues related to aging and the ability to advocate for innovative solutions.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and public speaking skills.
  • Proven ability to engage diverse stakeholder groups and lead strategic initiatives.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a self-directed, mission-driven environment.
