Assistant Nurse Manager - Main Operating Room Otolaryngology/Oral Surgery (Team 5)

We are looking for a full-time Assistant Nurse Manager for the Main Operating Room Otolaryngology/Oral Surgery Team (Team 5). The Assistant Nurse Manager will provide both managerial and clinical leadership, ensuring that all staff deliver safe clinical care and have the necessary education, methods, and resources to meet their performance goals.

Percent of Time: 100%

Schedule: Primarily day shifts with occasional hours in off-shifts to reflecting clinical needs and two to three weeks of administrative call in a calendar year

Location: University Campus

Rotations: 0700-1530, Monday -Friday, Weekends, holidays, on-call as staffing needs arise. One-week administrative call 2-3/year

Required Qualifications:

• A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is required
• Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire
• One to three years of progressing leadership responsibilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent problem solving, decision making and critical thinking skills
• Proficiency with computer software applications. skill in leadership/management
• Demonstrates time management, organization of workload, delegation, attention to detail and thoroughness
• Collaborates and develops effective interpersonal relationships with nursing staff, medical staff, interdisciplinary teams, and other hospital departments
• Demonstrates effective teaching skills for staff and patient education
• Professional job-related experience fostering or promoting a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment where people of all backgrounds and perspectives feel welcomed and appreciated; or demonstrated the ability to do so
• One to three years scrubbing and circulating experience in the Operating Room

Desired Qualifications:

• Leadership and/or manager experience
• Experience working in large academic medical center
• Experience working in a union environment
• Professional certification in nursing field (example: CNOR)
• Experience with Otolaryngology
