Description
The Staff Nurse will split their time between the Digestive Health Clinic (DHC) and Chronic Pain. In the DHC this position will facilitate preoperative evaluation and assessment of patients served by the department of anesthesia with a heavy emphasis on telephone patient care management. In Chronic pain this position will assess patients' nursing care needs, evaluate effectiveness of care provided, and integrate nursing theory and research into clinical practice.
What you will do : Preanesthetic
- Perform phone call preoperative evaluations for patients scheduled to receive anesthesia.
- Retrieve information from the UIHC patient record and enter in into the anesthesia record for an average of 20 patients per day.
- Collaborate with specialty services, consultants, and other departments to facilitate appropriate preoperative workup.
- Educate patients through regarding perioperative process, NPO expectations, and medication instructions.
