Job Description Summary
The Clinical Research Assistant will work with the research team led by Dr. Priyanka Sharma in breast cancer research. The clinical research assistant will assist in entry level clinical research activities including collecting information from patients/study participants and ensuring study activities are performed as scheduled for all participants. The clinical research assistant will provide physicians, administrative staff, sponsors, and contractors with requested information and support.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in biology, genetics, pre-med, or related field. Education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications

At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.

Job Duties
- Research data collection and entry.
- Administrative support for licensure and credentialing, general paperwork, scheduling, procurement, and correspondence.
- Provide administrative assistance to Principal Investigator.
- Assist in editing and formatting of grant proposals and manuscripts.
- Assist in maintaining regulatory paperwork for research studies.
- Recruit, evaluate, and educate patients regarding clinical trials following established procedures and protocols.
- Conduct informed consent interviews with participants.
- Document trial related activities as directed and ensure study data is reported in a timely and accurate manner.
- Coordinate study participant visit activities including scheduling procedures, communicating with subjects, and completing necessary basic study procedures.
- Assist with transport or shipping of research biological specimens between clinical trial sites.
- Provide written and verbal reports to the Principal Investigator and Program Director, as required.

- Experience in biomedical research (including any internship, educational, or volunteer experience).
- Prior cancer-related knowledge.
- Basic understanding of regulations governing clinical research (e.g. GCP, HIPAA).
- Experience with electronic medical records.
- Experience with Endnote and PubMed.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and possess good interpersonal skills.
- Strong work ethic.
- Advanced beginner skill or competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to learn new software and systems.
- Excellent communication; oral and written.
- Ability to contribute to a project team setting.
- Integrity and respect for patient confidentiality.
