The program will provide comprehensive training.
NOTE : The position may be used to fulfill practicum hours if needed.
Position Objective : To provide tobacco use prevention services to youth, families and community members across Eastern Kentucky.
Position Description : Supervised by the Program Director, the Youth Prevention Specialist works in schools and communities to facilitate tobacco use prevention services based on the #iCANendthetrend framework, which include :
1. Prevention Education
2. Information Dissemination
3. Youth Empowerment
4. Professional Development
Position Responsibilities :
- Collaborate with schools, parent-teacher groups, civic organizations, church groups, and other youth and community organizations to provide information and awareness on youth tobacco use, including e-cigarettes.
- Implement peer-to-peer prevention program to provide information and awareness on youth tobacco use, including e-cigarettes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director to meet program objectives.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No Preferred Education / Experience
- Pre-employment criminal background check, employment background check, as required by school districts.
- Evidence-based curriculum training must be obtained within 1 month of employment, and prior to in-school or related program delivery.
