The Kathleen Blanco Public Policy Center at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is an independent, interdisciplinary research center and archive engaged in research across a range of topics in public policy. Our core policy areas of focus include education, poverty and economic opportunity, criminal justice reform, health and healthcare, the coast and environment, and governmental ethics.
Responsibilities:
The Assistant Director will help the Director with managing external communications and public programming while supporting daily operations of the Blanco Center with general operational and administrative support. The Center will maintain a core research staff as well as collaborate with faculty across a range of departments on campus as well as institutions across the state and beyond. In addition, the Center will host events and develop programming to aid in disseminating research findings to policy makers and the public. The Assistant Director will manage communications, plan events, develop programs and represent the Blanco Center at meetings with external partners and research sponsors.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
The position requires a bachelor’s degree in communications or social science related field, exceptional written and oral communication skills, familiarity with social media platforms, and strong computer software skills (including by not limited to Microsoft Office). The candidate must be self-motivated and able to work collaboratively in teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Highly competitive candidates will have an advanced degree in communications or a policy-related field and a high level of experience in communications, event planning and other types of public programming. Experience working in InDesign is also desired. Preferred candidates will also have prior experience in a similar role.
