What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant (or Associate Professor) of Computer Science position at University of Louisiana Monroe?
- Teach undergraduate courses during the fall and spring semesters
- Pursue a program of scholarly research and publication
- Advise students and maintain records of student progress
- Actively participate in recruitment and retention for the program
- Engage with computer science related industry groups and companies
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
- Supervise assurance of learning and continuous improvement processes
Candidates must have a doctoral degree in computer science or related field from an ABET accredited institution. Rank will be determined based upon educational background, scholarly productivity, and academic experience.
The ideal candidate will have: (1) Excellent teaching skills; (2) Evidence of the ability to perform quality applied, basic, or instructional research in the computer science field; (3) An established or planned research agenda; (4) Good interpersonal skills; (5) Effective written and oral communication skills, (6) The ability to work with and supervise a highly diverse student population, (7) Experience and ability to lead the program’s accreditation-related activities and assessments, and (8) The ability to function collegially as a member of the faculty. An active on-campus involvement in the life of the university and program is expected from this position.
