Since 1987, The Shriver Center at UMBC has partnered with the Governor’s Office of Maryland to coordinate the Governor’s Summer Internship Program (GSIP). Over the years, this initiative has expanded into a portfolio of statewide programs—collectively known as the Maryland Public Service Scholars (MPSS) programs—designed to prepare college students across the state for careers in social impact
leadership. These programs equip the next generation of Maryland’s public and nonprofit changemakers with the skills, experiences, and networks needed to drive meaningful community impact.



Position Overview:

Reporting to the Program Director, the Program Coordinator plays a pivotal role in the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of MPSS programs. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality programming and professional development experiences for student Fellows, managing program administration and evaluation, and leading recruitment and onboarding efforts. Additionally, the
Program Coordinator will support strategic program growth, including piloting initiatives to expand opportunities beyond the summer.

Telework:

A hybrid telework schedule may be available.



Responsibilities:
  • Plan and execute program events, including orientation, seminars, networking
    nights, and closing ceremonies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Fellows and placement sites, addressing questions and offering support.
  • Support curriculum planning for orientation sessions, professional/leadership
    development seminars, and workshops.
  • Facilitate orientation sessions, seminars, and workshops as part of the program's learning and development activities.
  • Maintain program databases and records using tools such as Airtable, JotForm, and Google Drive.
  • Oversee social media and program communications.
  • Administer and review feedback surveys, intern learning plans, reflection
    assignments, and other program evaluations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on actionable improvements based on feedback.
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract Fellows and placement sites.
  • Oversee in-person recruitment efforts, including traveling to campus career fairs and delivering info sessions.
  • Oversee the selection process for Fellows and placement sites.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required and 1 year of direct work experience in the non-profit/public sector, human resources, and/or high education fields.
  • 1 year of coordinating internship, leadership development, workforce development, service-related, or similar programs or 1 year workshop or training facilitation, or leading group activities or 1 year event planning, program or project coordination.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree preferred in Higher Education, Education, Organizational Communication, or related field.

Salary:

Salary: $52,000 - $59,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
