Looking for an eager professional to work in our growing allergy practice and become part of our team. Under general supervision, responsible for assisting allergy team with patient care by controlling allergy shot patient flow, obtaining, and documenting necessary history and vital signs, performing assigned procedures, dispensing subcutaneous and sublingual immunotherapy, and providing patient education. Will assist in clerical duties including greeting patients, appointment check-in, confirming up to date patient information, collection of copays and scheduling. After completion of training, the candidate will be expected to execute the following:
Performs delegated medical tasks and may perform clerical duties. Where the electronic system is in use, this position will utilize the system as documented in the department and/or FPI standard operating procedure and process; and other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists in greeting patients and intake.
- Assists in patient scheduling and coordination of care.
- Obtains referrals and insurance authorization as requested and needed.
- Provides general care to patients. Administers prescribed testing, medications, and treatments. Educates patients on allergy testing and immunotherapy procedures.
- Reacts appropriately with patient reaction situations; informs physician and/or other clinical staff as necessary to mitigate adverse reactions.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Medical Assistant certification required
- Demonstrated skill in venipuncture
- One to two years medical assisting and medical office experience preferred
- CPR certification is required
