What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate in Renewable Energy Modeling position at University of Massachusetts?
We are seeking an experienced researcher to join our team as a Research Associate in Energy Engineering Modeling. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in energy systems, software development, and analytical modeling, with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
In this role, you will contribute to the development of a modular techno-economic software modeling tool for renewable energy systems with integrated storage systems. You will also assist in writing scholarly articles and proposals for grant funding, attend meetings related to research projects, and participate in collaborative research activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct analytical simulation research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI).
- Design and develop a modular software modeling tool for renewable energy systems with integrated storage systems.
- Create a user-friendly dashboard/web-app/app to share research results.
- Collaborate with research partners to advance knowledge in energy systems.
- Prepare and present research findings to stakeholders.
Requirements:
- MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial/Systems Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering/Science, Physics, Applied Physics, Chemistry, or related scientific degree.
- Four or more years of experience in research related to simulation and/or modeling, particularly in conducting analytical research, software design/development, coding, and development of modeling/simulation tools.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
About the Position:
This is a Grants & Contracts (MTA/GRACE) Union position, Grade P16. The initial appointment will be for 1 year, with the possibility of renewal based on productivity and performance and the availability of funding.
