CIT Advisors will individually manage a designated caseload of students, providing comprehensive support throughout their transition in the university and journey towards degree completion. CIT Advisors initiate and maintain regular contact with their assigned students to identify and address any obstacles to academic progress. Monitoring students' performance and collaborating with faculty, academic support services, and other university resources are necessary components of this role.Responsibilities
- Student InteractionCreate a welcoming environment where students can safely develop ownership of their educational progressAdvise students of diverse backgrounds on course selection, graduation requirements, co-curricular opportunities, and student rights / responsibilitiesCollaborate with students to create, assess, and update course schedules and degree-completion plans using retention strategies, such as Mandatory AdvisingAssess individual student needs and refer them to appropriate university resources, including Financial Aid, Tutorial Support, Writing Center, Counseling and Psychological Services,Disability and Accessibility Support Services, and Career ServicesInitiate and communicate with newly admitted and continuing students to provide comprehensive academic advisingDocument all advising appointments / interactions in the appropriate University advising systemConduct new student orientation sessionsCollaborate with UM-Flint partners to provide a seamless and impactful college experience for all studentsRepresent CIT on campus committees and working groupsPlan and AssessUse technology and data management to support the implementation and assessment of retention and student outreach programsContribute to the development of short- and long-term plans for CIT Student AffairsCollaborate on specialized projects as determined in collaboration with your supervisorParticipate in professional development opportunitiesFulfill other assigned tasks consistent with the scope of the positionRequired Qualifications
