Job Summary
Provide leadership and administrative direction for peri-operative technicians with the D. Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion Operating Rooms. Participate as an active member of the leadership teams, focusing on daily staffing, scheduling, and operational needs. Additionally, the supervisor will play an active role in recruitment efforts, hiring, quality improvement, safety, customer service, and education.
The D. Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion is a 12-story hospital that will house 264 private rooms capable of converting to intensive care; a state-of-the-art neurosciences center; and high-level specialty care services for cardiovascular and thoracic patients, along with advanced imaging. The 690,000-square-foot hospital which also features 20 surgical and three interventional radiology suites is being constructed adjacent to the Frankel Cardiovascular Center, with plans for bridge and tunnel connections to existing inpatient care facilities. The anticipated opening of the new D. Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion is fall 2025.

Responsibilities*
- Select, hire, and plan for staffing consistent with unit needs and budget
- Schedule and assign staff to ensure appropriate coverage across shifts
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate staff
- Support staff education and proficiency development
- Develop and foster teamwork and building trusting relationships
- Counsel and discipline staff to enable achievement of the unit and institutional objectives
- Coordinate quality assurance activities
- Serve as a role model to other departmental staff in the provision of unit readiness and patient care
- Participate in multidisciplinary and unit problem-solving regarding unit readiness and patient care
- Participate in the development and implementation of unit goals and objectives
- Organize and facilitate unit based educational activities and in-services
- Interprets and implements University and Health System policies and procedures
- Participates in and supports the involvement of peri-operative techs in unit quality improvement activities
Supervision Received: Supervision is received from Clinical Nursing Director or another designated official.
Supervision Exercised: Functional supervision is typically exercised over patient care and support staff at technician levels.
Physical Requirements
- This position requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, and bending.
Required Qualifications*
- Highschool diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 1 year experience in the operative setting (within the last 3 years)

- Evidence of demonstrated leadership ability
- Prior experience managing people
- Excellent customer service, communication, team building, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with multiple disciplines
Work Schedule
- Hours: 40 hours/week
- Shift: Days, hours will flex to department need
